I love photograph trash the dress sessions because it is artistic, creative and edgy. It is exactly what I love about photography. It is the ultimate in creative photography with strong romantic flavor. Every time I shoot trash the dress, it is an awesome opportunity to create unique and amazing art.
I met up with Casey & Brian, a young couple who are in love, for our fun and exciting Los Angeles Trash the Dress Photography session. It turned out that this was the first photo session Casey & Brian had ever had with a professional photographer, they were a bit nervous and not sure what to expect. I gave the them some basic instructions about lighting and posing and off we went.
Along with the assistance of Vivian and Patrick, we set up out lights and proceeded with the session. Like many prior trash the dress session I have done, as soon as the couple have gotten wet, they sort forget about the photo shoot and start to have fun. I describe this is people reverting to when they were kids. Not long before we were surround and cheered by onlookers. We had a great time and here are some images. Enjoy!
For the Photographers interested my Guerrilla Lighting techniques:
The lighting equipments used in this shoot is two Westcott’s Bruce Dorn Select Asymmetrical Travel Strip as rim lights on either side of the subject and a Westcott 50″ Apollo umbrella softbox as the main light. In addition, I used the new Cheetah Stand that retracts the legs as soon as you pick it up. It is an awesome stand when you are shooting on location and constantly on the move.
Below is the actual ambient lighting. By increasing the flash output, I can “remove” the distracting background lights.
