Meg and Nathan and I met in May 2010 as they were interviewing wedding photographer for their wedding in 2011. During our meeting I discovered that Meg and Nathan really love my artistic and edgy photography style and soon after, they booked me as their wedding photographer. Thank you Meg and Nathan!
As a busy photographer that offers Los Angeles and Orange County Trash the Dress photography, I received an email last week from LA Times that they would like use some of my trash the dress (TTD) photos for an upcoming issue. I decided to ask Meg and Nathan if they would like to pose for the TTD session. As I expected, Meg and Nathan being artists themselves, they jumped the opportunity to create some fun art.
It took me several weeks to put together a dream team to help me with the shoot. First,
I want to thank Meg and Nathan for their enthusiasm. I love photograph them and just knew that they would be the type of clients I would love to work with. Next, my friend Ben who resides in Corona Del Mar provided us with private access to a secluded beach. Then, Ebony from Mahogany Maddison, a creative wedding dress designer provided two wedding dresses (yeah, two dresses, one for getting wet and the other for the supposed sunset session…more on this later) for the photo shoot. Stephanie, a fabulous make up artist, provided excellent make up not once, but twice (before the TTD session and right after Meg got out of water) during the shoot. Brandon, the owner of Lumodi Beauty Dish, provided several beauty dishes for the session. All photos from the session are created from Brandon beauty dishes. These BD are fantastic, not only they are light weigh, they are durable as I managed to drop them in the water twice during the shoot. Also, due to their minimal wind profile, they are much more preferred then an umbrella or a softbox. BTW, Brandon also provided all the “behind the scene” photos below. Thank you. Lastly, I want to again thank my assistants, Melissa and Stella for their hard work getting wet in order help me with the lighting.
We had a great time during the session. The only regret, due to the heavy marine overcast, we never got any hint of the sunset. It is what it is. We had to make the best of it. Here are a few photos from the session. Enjoy!

Awesome set of images beautiful poses and lighting.
This experience was truly “once in a lifetime”. I felt surged with energy knowing that Ben was taking a gloomy day and a Midwest couple and creating dynamic images fit for The LA Times. His process was about art, the glamor and romance just seemed to follow.
I’m not a blushing bride yet, but I know that on “the big day”, Ben will be there to capture every moment. I’m just lucky that I’ll have a photographer who knows how to capture the moment and turn it into a unique masterpiece.
Amazing set of photos! You made amazing photos from a gloomy day. The weather seemed like a total loss, but the lighting and colors you brought out are amazing.
