1. What is Ben’s professional photography background?

Ben is a full-time, freelance photographer located in Southern California specializing in wedding photography worldwide.  He has been a professional photographer for over 20 years.

In addition to covering approximately 25 weddings each year, Ben also regularly shoots portraits and corporate events.  His photos have been published in Cosmopolitan Magazine, USA Today, The LA Times, The New York Daily News, Popular Photography Magazine, ESPN Magazine, Sporting News, PC Photo Magazine, Professional Photographer of America Magazine, Range Finder Magazine, The Magazine, The Pasadena Star News, and the San Gabriel Tribute, as well as used as cover art for a sports photography book.

Because of Ben’s outstanding work in the field, he was named a “Feature Photographer” in the February 2006 Range Finder - a premiere trade magazine for professional wedding and portrait photographers.

Ben also teaches various seminars at professional photography trade shows and conventions, including Imaging USA, MacWorld, Photo Marketing Association (PMA), Pro Photo Expo (Professional Photographer’s of California), MTPPA (Michigan Triangle Professional Photographer’s Association), and POMA (Professional Outdoor Media Association).

Ben’s style is best described as photojournalistic, artistic, creative and edgy.  “Photojournalistic” when he is documenting the events as they unfold and capturing the unpretentious moments of the wedding day; and “Artistic, Creative and Edgy” when creating wonderful magazine-like  posed photos of the couple on their special day!

It depends on the package selected.  Ben’s wedding coverage ranges from an 8-hour to a 12-hour day. When selecting your package, be sure to talk with Ben to ensure that you get the photographic coverage you need to capture all of the moments you’ll want to remember forever!

13. What is the process for creating our Wedding Album?

The creation of a custom album is the same for each couple, whether they choose the modern Coffee Table Art Book or the Pictobook Metallic Album. The steps are as follows:

  • First, the couple will choose the album style and select a set of photos they wish to be included in the album.
  • Second, the selected photos are delivered to our graphic designer to begin the process of custom designing the album.
  • Third, the couple will receive a PDF file to approve the design, and make minor design changes as necessary.
  • Lastly, the finished approved design is sent to our lab for professional printing and binding.

16. How much is the Retainer Fee required to save our date?

Ben requires a $1,000 retainer fee to hold the date. 50% of the balance is due 90 days from the wedding date, and the remaining balance is due 30 days from the wedding date.

17. What is your Cancellation Policy?

Because he does not double-book dates, once Ben is committed to your date, he will reject all future work for that date.  Therefore, the retainer fee is considered non-refundable.

18. My aunt/uncle/brother/friend is a photo buff, and will want to take pictures, too. Is this okay?

It is fine for family and friends to photograph during the wedding, but not from the same angle that Ben will be shooting from. Family and friends are welcome to shoot from either side, but not in front of or behind Ben.

Because Ben’s expert techniques in posing couples and groups are a part of the talents and skills he brings to the table to create his wonderful compositions, he would prefer and appreciate that family and friends do not take photos from his vantage point, and in places that might interfere with his commitment to give you the best wedding photos possible.

19. Are you available for a face-to-face meeting? Do you have sample albums to show us?

Yes, and Yes!  Ben prefers to meet potential clients in their own homes, to get a feel for the personal style of each couple, and bring that into play to help them get precisely the wedding photos they’ve always dreamed of. Ben will also bring several DVD montages on his laptop to view, as well as a sample of the Coffee Table Art Book and the Pictobook Metallic Album. This is a perfect time to ask any and all questions you might have about his work and working style.

20. We love your work, but we can’t quite afford the packages you offer at this time. Would it be possible to book you at a lower rate?

Although Ben’s full-day coverage starts at $2,500, he will consider covering an event for less under the following conditions:

    1. If the wedding date is less than 90-days away and Ben is not already booked for that date.
    2. If the couple wants less coverage.
    3. If the wedding is not on a Saturday during peak wedding season.
All such inquiries can be taken up on an individual basis, and should be discussed with Ben for availability and details.
